CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the comparison of CPU between all team member had been done completely and we can see that more cores can make the processor become more faster plus core is the part of the chip that does the processing work. We can see that the Celeron N2940 processor is the best CPU among the processors. This is because it is the fastest for programs that are made to split tasks between core and used less power consumption compare to other processor such as Core i3-5005U, Core i5-3317U and Core i5 5200U.

Next, the comparison of mobile devices also have a lot of information based on types of mobile that are owned by our team. We listed out the memory, processor and camera megapixel. Based on the information about memory, biggest size of memory can run more programs easily and we can see that Asus Zenfone 3 Max has the biggest memory compare to others. While Lenovo A7000 Plus has a biggest processor which is 1.7GHz octa-core. Biggest processor will cause the mobile device to function smoothly. For the camera megapixel, Asus Zenfone 3 Max is the best among the mobile devices. So we can conclude that the best mobile device among us mobile device to run smoothly and we also know that with larger size of processor, the speed become more faster.

COMPARISON OF MOBILE DEVICES

MEMORY

32GB, 3GB RAM > 16GB, 2GB RAM > 8/16 GB, 2 GB RAM > 8 GB, 2 GB RAM > 8 GB, 1 GB RAM

The larger the size of RAM, the gadget is more efficient to run more than an application. This is because when the smartphone is running an app, it is loaded into RAM. Therefore, RAM is necessary for a gadget to perform multitasking. A gadget which is lack of RAM may cause the app unable to run or the performance of app will be affected. However, a gadget with more RAM may consume more power and shorter the battery life.

If there is a larger internal storage, a lot of apps or information and data can be saved in the mobile device. In that case, a user won’t have to always clean-up for saving space of the internal storage. Moreover, a user needs to buy an extra memory card to store more data if the internal storage is full of data.

PROCESSOR

Octa-core 1.7GHz > Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 > Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 > Octa-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 > Quad-Core 1.2GHz
Core is built in the main processor to execute any smartphone’s instructions. Octa stand for 8 cores while Quad stand for 4 cores in the smartphone. An octa-core processor is faster than a quad-core processor only when it is running an app that takes advantage of its abilities or when you’re multitasking. For example, one core maybe working on your web browsing while another is standing by. When there is a call comes in, the second core will get to work. So, both of your web browsing and your phone call carry on without a hitch, but not necessarily twice as fast.

Camera Megapixel

16 MP > 13 MP  > 8 MP > CMOS 5.0 MP
The megapixel is the measurement for total number of pixels that will make up and image captured by a camera sensor. The higher the megapixel counts on a camera sensor, the greater the amount of detail that can be captured in a picture. Therefore, the digital zoom can lead to the capture of closer images which still offer a high level of detail when it is printing out or using on the web.

Overall, Asus Zenfone 3 Max is the best choice among all the smartphones that are listed above. This is because it has the highest amount of RAM and internal storage. It also has 16 megapixel camera which is the highest compared to others. Although it’s processor clock speed is slightly less 0.3GHz than Lenovo A7000 Plus, it has other aspect elements which are better.

COMPARISON OF CPU

List of CPU among all laptop of each team member
· Intel Celeron Quad Core N2940 (up to 2.25GHz, 1MB L3 Cache)
· Intel Quad Core N2940 (1.83GHz, 1MB L3 Cache)
· Intel Core i3-5005U 2 GHz, Dual-Core
· Intel Core i5 3317U 1.70GHz, Dual-Core
· Intel Core i5 5200U / 2.2 GHz Dual-Core
Before we compare the different type of processor, we should know what the core means. Every laptop is built with only one processor chip. That chip can have one, two, four, six, or eight cores. Each “core” is the part of the chip that does the processing work.

Speed

Quad Core > Dual Core
Although more cores will faster the processor, they are faster only if a program can split its tasks between the cores as not all programs are made to split tasks between cores.
Quad Core 2.25GHz > Quad Core 1.83GHz>Dual Core 2.2GHz> Dual Core 2GHz> Dual Core 1.70GHz
The clock speed of each core also is a crucial factor in speed, as is the architecture. A newer dual core CPU with a higher clock speed will often outperform an older quad core CPU with a lower clock speed.

Power Consumption

Core I5 3317U > Core I5 5200U & Core I3 5005U > Celeron N2940
More cores also lead to higher power consumption by the processor. When the processor is switched on, it supplies power to not only one at a time but all the cores. Therefore, a quad core processor will draw more power from your laptop. However, Celeron N2940 Quad Core is less power consumption than the others although it has double number of cores than others. This is because it is built to minimize the power consumption and more advance than other processors. Core I5 5200U has been improved to consume less power than Core I5 3317U. This is one of the diffrence between fifth generation processor and third generation processor.

For Gaming, Video & Audio Editing

Quad Core > Dual Core
PC hardcore games mostly dependent on the graphics card to look good and more core processor also important too. Those professional who works with video or audio programs, more cores will be beneficial. This is due to the popular audio and video editing tools that take advantage of multi-threaded processing.

Based on the chart above, Celeron N2940 has the most number of cores among all CPU compared to Core I3 and Core I5 which are only 2 cores. It also has the highest operating frequency which is 2.25GHz which is higher 0.25GHz than Core I3, 0.55GHz than Core I5 3317U and 0.05GHz than Core I5 5200U. Moreover, the lowest power consumption is Celeron N2940 which is just need 7.5W to operate. Second lowest are Core I3 and Core I5 5200U which need 15W. Core I5 3317U is the highest thermal design power which is 17W. However, Celeron N2940 has less On-chip L2 + L3 cache memory(2.048MB) than Core I3(3.584MB) and both Core I5(3.584MB).

Therefore, it can be concluded that Celeron N2940 processor is the best CPU among the processors that listed above. This is because it is the fastest for programs that are made to split tasks between cores and less power consumption.

INTRODUCTION

This report will focus on the comparison of embedded devices and computer hardware from the devices each group member own. For computer hardware, we decided to choose CPU and for embedded devices, we choose processor, display camera, internal and ram memory.

For your information, CPU is the abbreviation for central processing unit. Sometimes referred to simply as the central processor, but more commonly called processor, the CPU is the brains of the computer where most calculations take place. In terms of computing power, CPU is the most important element of a computer.

Next, RAM is an acronym for random access memory, a type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly; that is, any byte of memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes. RAM is the most common type of memory found in computers and other devices, such as printers.

In this report, we will know the specifications and features of the laptops and smartphones that we choose to compare. From there, we can get the idea to choose the best one based on the comparison we do. We also can understand the meaning of CPU and RAM.
